Baker St Group partnered with listed global miner, Mineral Commodities to acquire Skaland Graphite − Europe’s major supplier of natural graphite since 1932.
Skaland Graphite is the largest flake graphite producer in Europe, the highest grade flake graphite producer in the world and the fourth largest producer globally outside of China. The main energy source for the project is Hydro power. Skaland Graphite has excellent logistics, with its own port facilities adjacent to the main processing facility.
The transaction was announced to the market in April 2019, with formal change of ownership October 2019.
Opportunity
Skaland Graphite has a long term track record, consistent production and established client base. Skaland ore is amenable to upgrading to graphite anode precursor for Lithium-ion batteries.
The development strategy includes increasing resources through brownfields and greenfields exploration, optimising the existing mining and processing facilities, and developing downstream value added product production facilities for the EV supply chain.
